What is ORCID? How do I get an ‘ORCID at Oxford’?
An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a unique researcher identifier, used worldwide, that you keep throughout your life and retain even if you move institution. ORCIDs are required for:
- Wellcome Trust grant applications (from August 2015)
- National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) personal award applications (from September 2015)
- Academy of Medical Sciences springboard applications.
RCUK are also members of the ORCID Consortium (as of December 2015).
