Plan S implementation guidance has been released by cOAlition S for consultation until 1 February 2019 (subsequently extended to 8 Feb). It aims to clarify the key points of Plan S, describe implementation options and provide responses to questions and comments.
The University is currently considering the guidance and consultation. Meanwhile there is no change to our previous advice for Oxford researchers.
The target date for implementation of Plan S by participating research funders is 1 January 2020, with a focus on journal articles. The Plan S press release states that: ‘There are three main roads for Plan S compliance: i) Publication in fully Open Access Journals or Platforms; ii) Deposit of Versions of Record (VoR) or Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) in compliant Open Access repositories without embargo; iii) Publication in ‘hybrid’ journals only under transformative agreements.’
The full implementation guidance can be found on the cOAlition S website.
Oxford researchers with questions or comments should contact firstname.lastname@example.org (Head of Scholarly Communications & Research Data Management, Bodleian Libraries).
