Charity Open Access Fund – update & procedure change 30th August to 30th September 2017
Oxford’s block grant from COAF has now been fully spent for 2016-17. This requires a temporary change of procedure for the payment of Article Processing Charges (APCs) for all the COAF partners except Wellcome. The affected charities are: Arthritis Research UK, Bloodwise, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Parkinson’s UK.
Please contact the individual Partner Charity yourselves to ask if they will fund your APC. There is no need to fill in Oxford’s application form as unfortunately the Bodleian’s APC Team is unable to process these payments centrally on your behalf. Contact details below.
Arthritis Research UK, Bloodwise, British Heart Foundation, Parkinson’s UK
From now until 1 October 2017 researchers should: first, contact the funder for permission to take the paid route; if permission granted, obtain and pay the invoice via their departments; send claim to funder for reimbursement.
Cancer Research UK
CRUK-funded researchers should fund open access costs using any available underspend on their grants. If there is no available underspend, researchers should comply by self-archiving their paper in Europe PMC within 6 months of publication, if the publisher permits self-archiving within this time-frame.
If you have any queries, please contact CRUK on email@example.com.
Wellcome Trust (no change)
Wellcome-funded authors please continue with the usual procedure whereby the Bodleian’s APC Team handle invoicing and payment. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to check journal compliant and funds available.
New funding will be available from 1st October 2017 and you can resume applying directly to us (the APC team email@example.com) from that date. See our Wellcome Trust & COAF webpage for instructions and form.
